Big Ditch Park / San Vicente Creek
A signature Silver City landmark: the original Main Street, scoured 55 feet deep by 1890s floods and now a downtown linear park.
A cataclysmic series of floods in 1895, 1903, and 1910 cut Silver City’s Main Street down to a creek bed. Today the Big Ditch is a shaded urban park with footbridges to downtown.
Easy 10-minute walk; the best entry is near Bullard and Yankie streets. Free.
A natural pairing with downtown dining and the Silver City Museum.
