Catwalk National Recreation Trail
A canyon walkway over Whitewater Creek north of Glenwood. Built in 1893 to hold a water pipeline; rebuilt as a recreation trail.
A short metal-grated walkway carries you above Whitewater Creek into a narrow canyon — a unique combination of mining-history infrastructure and slot-canyon scenery.
About 65 miles northwest of Silver City via US-180. Allow ~1.5 hours each way. The trail is partly accessible.
Flash-flood risk in monsoon season — check forecasts before going. Closed periodically for storm repair.
