The defense wisely con- cluded that in connection, with a plea of guilty, it was necessary to have a first class attorney, and accordingly the learned barrister, the Hon. Barney Cox was engaged, and while apologizing that he had not time to prepare his papers in the case, his pleadings were eloquent, terse, and to the point, so much so indeed, that Justice Barton fined Mr. Sing Lee $25 and costs.
