Condition Guide
Last Updated: June 27, 2026
I use condition language to help you understand what to expect before you buy a physical item. Because my inventory can include unique, one-of-one, and pre-owned pieces, condition is described as clearly as possible in the title, description, and photos.
Important: For any listing, the written notes and photos are both part of the description. If something matters to your purchase decision, contact me before checkout at [email protected].
1. How I Describe Condition
I aim to describe every item in plain language. When possible, I note:
- Visible wear, scratches, stains, toning, fading, bends, or dents
- Missing parts, repairs, alterations, or replacements
- Original packaging, inserts, labels, or certificates when present
- Any unusual features, defects, or limitations that affect value or use
2. Common Condition Terms
New / Unused
Unused or unopened items with no meaningful signs of wear.
Excellent
Very light handling wear, but no major flaws that affect the item's appearance or function.
Very Good / Good
Noticeable wear consistent with normal use, but the item remains presentable and usable.
Fair / As-Is
Significant wear, damage, or missing elements. These items are described as found and may be better for parts, restoration, or collecting.
3. What Condition Depends On
Condition varies by item type. A clean coin, a vintage book, and a pre-owned decorative object can have very different signs of age, so I judge each item based on its own category and purpose.
- Coins: Wear, luster, cleaning, toning, contact marks
- Books: Spine wear, page yellowing, inscriptions, tears, binding strength
- Collectibles: Chips, cracks, repairs, fading, completeness
- Miscellaneous merchandise: Function, packaging, and cosmetic condition
4. Photos and Written Notes
I use photos to show the item from multiple angles and to highlight anything that should be seen before purchase. If the written description and the photos appear to differ, treat that as a signal to contact me for clarification.

5. Questions Before You Buy
