Saddle Wisdom

"Dawn breaks gentle on the open plain,
Leather creaks and reins in hand remain,
The rhythm of hooves, the whisper of grass,
Each sunrise teaching as the seasons pass.

A cowboy learns patience from stubborn steers,
And courage from facing his deepest fears,
The value of silence beneath endless blue,
And the worth of a promise, honest and true.

The saddle molds wisdom with every ride,
Through dust storms weathered and rivers wide,
Respect for the land, for beast and for man,
Grows strong in the heart where the journey began.

Sun climbs high on a sky so vast,
Sweat on a brow, shadows cast,
The jingle of spurs, the creak of tack,
The scent of sage on a winding track.

A hawk wheels silent, cattle graze slow,
Fence lines stretch where wildflowers grow,
The laughter of friends at a midday rest,
The taste of beans, the sun-warmed vest.

Thunderheads gather, the wind starts to moan,
Lightning etches the world in stone,
A cowboy rides steady, rain in his face,
Trusting his horse to find the way's trace.

At dusk, when the shadows stretch long and thin,
The lessons of riding still echo within,
For out on the range, a soul comes to know,
The wisdom the saddle is willing to show.

Night settles soft on the rolling land,
Stars spill silver through a gentle hand,
The fire's glow, the coyotes' song,
Remind the cowboy where hearts belong.

So ride with the dawn and rest with the night,
