Peg Systems

Quick Answer β€” Consciousness

Peg systems help you memorize ordered lists by placing each item on a pre-memorized peg (numbers, shapes, or objects), making retrieval fast and reliable.

Short Answer

Associate information with a pre-memorized list of pegs (numbers, shapes, or objects) so you can retrieve items in order. Example: 1-bun, 2-shoe, 3-tree.

How to Use a Peg System (Fast)

  1. Memorize your peg list first (10 pegs is enough to start).
  2. Turn each target item into a vivid image.
  3. Make the item interact with the peg image (action + exaggeration).
  4. Recall by counting pegs in order and β€œseeing” what’s attached.

Common Mistakes

  • Weak peg list (you must know pegs automatically).
  • Too many items per peg (one item per peg when learning).
  • Links that are static instead of active (use action scenes).
