Quick Answer — Consciousness

✍️ Randy Salars

Short Answer

Draw or doodle without a plan. Let your hand move freely, and notice any images, sensations, or emotions that arise—without judging the result.

How to Do It (5–10 minutes)

  1. Get paper and a pen/pencil. Set a timer for 7 minutes.
  2. Start with simple shapes or lines. Keep moving.
  3. When you notice control/critique, return to “just move the pen.”
  4. If an image appears, follow it lightly—don’t force it.
  5. Finish by writing 3 words: what did it feel like?

What You’re Training

  • Perception of inner imagery and emotion signals.
  • Reduced cognitive control (loosening perfectionism).
  • Attention to micro-impulses (small “wants” in movement).
