Affidavit_of_Ezra_I_Beardsley_regarding_Samuel_Beach_Axtell Notes: Affidavit dated August 30, 1877 of Ezra I. Beardsley, Cimarron, Colfax County, New Mexico, saying he met Governor Samuel Beach Axtell, who told him no chance of moving the courts of Colfax County back from Taos County, and not to contact the Legislature about it, that the Legislature would probably divide Colfax, adding West part to Taos and establishing a new county on the East side. Beardsley felt Governor was hostile and bitter to Colfax County people. Colfax County War. Notary Public was Harry Whigham. HL introduction page overlaid by document.
