Affidavit_of_Harry_Whigham_concerning_Samuel_Beach_Axtell
Notes: Affidavit dated August 30, 1877 of Harry Whigham, Colfax County, New Mexico, was the editor of the News and Press newspaper. His conversation with Governor Axtell upon his visit to Colfax County, asked Governor to meet with Colfax people to hear their concerns, but Axtell said no and went with Senator Dorsey to see the Una de Gato Land Grant. Axtell talked about dividing Colfax County and making a new county on the East side, no good reason, just political scheme, etc. HL introduction page overlaid by document. Certified by John Lee, Clerk, Probate Court. Affidavit in English, handwritten, 4pp/fr.
