After supper Judge Fielder addressed the
jury for an hour and a half, in his usual elo-
quent manner. He did not accuse the wife of
perfidy; he believed she was an innocent and
pure woman, but that she had been indiscreet,
and from the knowledge which her husband
had, that he was not only justified, but that it
was his duty to fulfill the unwritten law in the
protection of a man’s home and family.
