American Trails feature on the Catwalk National Recreation Trail (designated 1978). Covers the CCC's 1930s construction of a hanging walkway following the route of the old pipeline; the original water pipeline built in 1893 for the Graham town mill; the pipeline running 20 feet above the canyon floor; the pipeline dubbed the "Catwalk" by workmen who walked it for repairs; the Forest Service rebuilding in 1961; the 1978 National Recreation Trail designation; the $1.5 million universally-designed accessible trail completion in December 2003 adding a paved section, viewing platforms, rock amphitheater; the trail becoming the second most visited location on the Gila National Forest.
