Notes: Christmas scene, Madrid, 1938; A little girl hangs up her stocking while Santa Claus drives his reindeer across the roof. This is one of the many lighted Christmas scenes employed by coal miners at Madrid, New Mexico, to gain for the town the title of the ""Christmas City"" of the Southwest. Thousands of visitors come each year to see the brilliant display of lights.
