For a few weeks past a miner named Thomas Conway, but commonly known as β€œScotty” has been working up at Shakespeare. Friday he enjoyed pay day, and proceeded to blow in his pay, by Monday he was broke and had begun to sober up. He concluded to leave town and took a brake beam ticket. He was driven off the train once or twice, but before it left managed to secrete himself on a truck. When he got a mile or so out of town his clothes probably caught on an axle and he was whirled around a few times and completely torn to pieces. His head was torn off and the largest piece found was about three times the size of a silver dollar. He was recognized by his coat, pipe and necktie, but the remains were in such a shape that no one had the heart to gather them up. The section men were set at the job and picked up the pieces, which were brought into town. Judge Titus held an inquest. The verdict was in accordance with the above facts, and exonerated the company from all blame. β€” Liberal.
