him names. He seized a butcher knife and
frightfully wounded her, so that for a long time
it was doubtful if she would live. She recovered,
but her face is greatly disfigured by the knife
wounds which the little wretch made. He was
whipped unmercifully for this, but bore the pun-
ishment without a murmur.
