GRANT COUNTY MEERSCHAUM
Grant county is prolific of the greatest
variety of minerals and at the same time sur-
prises, of any region of the same area on earth.
Now, what is it? Why, it is the biggest meer-
schaum mine in the world! Some six months
ago the attention of the indefatigable M. W.
Neff, of our city, was called to a deposit or
vein of earth which it was supposed might be
meerschaum. He immediately sent a sample to
Europe to be investigated by experts, and re-
ceived in reply the information that it was
meerschaum of the finest quality. Mr. Neff lo-
cated the property, which lies on the Sapello,
and has now on exhibition as large and pure a
sample as was ever taken from the earth. Tally
