MINING NEWS SOUTHWESTERN DEVELOPMENT EL PASO HERALD V WeekEnd Edition Kbvemb er 14r15 1914 3D MIC1GB us iie i Discussion of Compulsory Arbitration of Disputes to Be a Feature Phoenix Ariz Nov 14 Some rec ommendation regarding compulsory ar bitration of labor disputes probably will be made to congress by the 17th annual convention of the American Mining con gress to be held in Phoenix December Ill On the nature of that recommen dation a determined fight will be waged The employers of mine laborers of course will be well represented in the convention and the miners organi zations are planning to send their most ible men Among those who will be present to represent the side of the organized miners are John P White ot Indianapo lis president of the United Mine Work ers of America and Thomas Lewis of Columbus Ohio another official of the same organization James A Emery of Washington is down on the program for an address that will open the discussion on com pulsory arbitration Robert Walker and Samuel O Dunne both of Chicago will follow Mr Emery Right along the same line Charles Piez of Chicago will speak on The Cost of Strikes
