Oral history from James Kaywaykla, a Warm Springs Apache who as a child survived Victorio's War (1879-1880). Recounts the flight of Victorio's band from the San Carlos reservation, the battles through the Black Range and Mimbres Mountains of Grant County, and the massacre at Tres Castillos, Chihuahua. One of the few Apache-side accounts of the Apache wars in southwestern New Mexico.
