Notes: Marker to 1847-1985 Indian Wars in Cemetary; Heroes of the Mexican and Indian Wars of 1847 and 1854, bloody years in the history of New Mexico, are memorialized in this marker erected by the War Department in the cemetery at Taos, New Mexico in 1910. The larger stone in the background marks the grave of Kit Carson, whose exploits as a frontiersman still read stronger than fiction.
