J. J. Kelly, a butcher at San Pedro, on Wednesday of last week, went into the store of Major Weed, at San Pedro, and after making a few purchases, fell into a playful contest with one of the clerks. In the course of their play, the clerk took a revolver out of the cash drawer. This Kelly attempted to take away from him. In the scuffle, still playful, the pistol was discharged, the ball entering Kellyโ€™s ab- domen and coming out of the back near the spine. Kelly died next morning about 2 oโ€™clock. He was a man advanced in life, and leaves a wife and eleven children to mourn his loss. The young clerk is said to be nearly beside himself with grief at the accident.
