F. Stevens, a most successful cattle raiser of
west Socorro county, while hunting geese near
Bakersfield, California, the other day, met with
a serious accident that resulted in the amputa-
tion of his left arm. He had leaned his shot-gun
against a tree and mounting a horse, reached
over to take it. It seems his hand grabbed the
lock, and the force caused the charge of one
barrel to go off, shattering the arm. He was
taken back to the city and the doctors attend-
ing concluded that amputation was necessary
to save his life.
