On the Sunday morning before the killing
on Wednesday, a fight occurred between Man-
ley and Joe Crizer, in the Lackey house, at Lone
Mountain. Redding, seeing one of the Robin-
son’s going to the house with a gun during the
fight, got his own gun and went to the house,
and seeing Crizer down and Manley in the act
of braining him with the butt of a Winchester,
ran the barrel of his own gun between Manley
and Crizer, thus warding off the blow. Having
quelled the fight Redding took Crizer away.
The next day Manley procured a warrant at
Central for Redding’s arrest, which was served
on Tuesday, the trial at Central being set for
Wednesday morning.
