Opium Selling Is Illegal
Ah Tom, who kept a hop joint on Broad-
way, was recently arrested by Constable Bu-
quor, and sentenced by Judge Givens to im-
prisonment for six months or to pay a fine of
$100. He is now in jail. The constable has some
seven or eight warrants for other Chinamen
who have been keeping joints where opium is
sold. The law in regard to selling opium should
be rigidly enforced, even if it is necessary to
lock up half the Chinamen of the town.
