Oscar Roberts arrived from the south
Wednesday. He reports that there is no doubt
that Hall Williams was killed by Indians in the
Animas valley. There were three Indians in
the band supposed to be the same ones who
have been operating in that section for the past
four years. They left a number of worn out
horses, shod with raw-hide, which they had
been riding hard for several days. The ranch-
men of that section have been robbed of about
all their horses by the Indians for several
years, Head & Hearst having lost not less than
100 head in the past two years. These three
Indians have several times been seen, and there
can be no doubt that they have killed four men
in that section during the past few years.
