Pendergast was run into the county jail
for six months by a Central City jury for some
offense committed in that camp some time ago.
Recently the justice before whom the conviction
was made, addressed a letter to the county
board giving it as his opinion that the sentence
was rather severe, and suggested that the old
man be releasd from further confinement. Ac-
cordingly Pendergast was called before the
board Tuesday, and, on being asked what he
