n the sum of $300 to appear before the
grand jury. Later developments would lead
to the supposition that considerable pilfering
of rich ore had been going on. Three other
suspected men left the day after Kavanaugh
was discharged from the mine. They made
tracks for Colorado.
“Old Boss,” a well known darkey formerly
of this city, was shot and killed at Trinidad
Sunday last.

In a cowboy row on the head of the
Nigirita, in Socorro county, last week John and
Jerry Davis were killed on one side and Fred
Grostette on the other. This is the second of
the Grostette boys who have come to a violent
death in this county.
