Monticello Cattle Company
The Monticello Cattle Company, a Sierra County, New Mexico, ranching operation, owned between 3,000 and 4,000 head of cattle in the early 1890s; however, in September 1891 a newspaper reported that the company's ranges were terribly dry, causing the cattle to suffer for lack of food and water, and that the company was rapidly rounding up its herd and preparing to ship the cattle from Engle and San Marcial [1][2].
