Silver City Mining and Milling Company
The company was organized on January 25, 1882, under the general corporation laws of New York, with its office at 115 Broadway, New York City[1]. The company acquired three full claims—the Volcano Mine, Old Timer Mine, and Campbellite Mine—located near Silver City, New Mexico[3]. The Volcano and Old Timer lay three‑quarters of a mile southwest of town, while the Campbellite was about three miles south[3]. A fifteen‑stamp quartz mill was built and completed for ore reduction[3]. The property was purchased after a year of examination, during a period of late Indian troubles that had limited capital investment in the region[2].
