C. R. Huber was a Pinos Altos constable tried for assault to kill after a baile shooting
Huber, also known as Dick Huber, served as a constable at Pinos Altos and was tried for assault to kill a Mexican after shooting two men at a baile [2]. Noel, and later Bell & Stephens at Pinos Altos [5][7][1]. At a baile he shot and killed one Mexican and wounded another, claiming self‑defense; the jury failed to agree, and he had been acquitted of murder at a prior trial [2]. In 1890 he took part in an attempted robbery near Pinos Altos, was wounded in the arm by Under Sheriff Davenport, and surrendered [4][3]. He later pleaded guilty to the attempted robbery [8]. He had also been arrested in 1883 near Morenci for robbing Pomeroy’s stage [6][7].
