Calvin Feasel – Grant County Saw Mill Operator Killed in Logging Accident
Calvin Feasel was a saw mill and lumber businessman in Grant County, New Mexico, who died in a logging accident on Cherry Creek in the Pinos Altos mountains in 1890[2][3][4]. He had resided in Grant County for about seven or eight years and was held in high regard by the business community[2]. On Monday, December 1, 1890, while unloading a large saw log, Feasel’s foot caught and the log passed over his body[3][5][1]. He was taken to a cabin but died before his wife arrived at 5 p.m[1]. He left a wife and four children and was described as a kind husband and an indulgent father[4][2].
