Captain French, W.S. Ranch Manager in Grant County
Ranch on the Frisco, arrived from Alma Tuesday and reported that floods in that section did a great deal of damage, washing out the fine dam his company had built across the river and badly damaging many farms along the valley near Pleasanton [3]. In 1888, he rounded up all his cow-punchers and told them if they intended to marry that year, it was time they were at it, as he was tired of their running around every Sunday when they should be branding mavericks [1]. In 1889, he met with a painful accident when he was thrown from a bronco, sustaining a fracture of the left arm [2][4].
