Col. Harris, owner of the Illinois mine at Kingston
Harris owned the Illinois mine at Kingston and was in Silver City attending the Grey Eagle case before Master Posey [1][2]. On January 27, 1888, miner Marcus Fuller approached Harris at Kingston, claimed he would be a good witness for the case but was broke, and Harris gave him $25 [1][2]. After arriving in Silver City, Harris gave Fuller more money, but when Fuller testified, his testimony was dead against Harris’s side [1][2]. After court adjourned, Fuller again asked for money, words passed, and Fuller called Harris a liar [1][2]. Though well along in years, Harris knocked the burly miner out, and Fuller fled town on the first train [1][2].
