Huber came to New Mexico in 1882 and first worked for Lew Fifer in Hanover Gulch [3][8]. Noel on the Mangas for about a year, then for Bell & Stephens at Pinos Altos until shortly before the hold-up [3][8]. In 1883 he was arrested for robbing Pomeroy’s stage near Morenci [4][8]. On April 18, 1890, Huber attempted to hold up John and Richard Boyle; during the attempt, one Boyle shot a hole in his hat [1][2]. He returned to Pinos Altos that evening and was later arrested there with Albert Mayfield; they fled and fired shots at officers [5][7].
