Edward McEnterf: NAN Ranch Employee Arrested for Shooting Gonzalez

Edward McEnterf, an employee of the NAN ranch, was brought to Silver City under arrest for the shooting of a Mexican named Favian Gonzalez on Tuesday last at San Juan, a settlement on the Mimbres ^[1]. According to the only account then obtainable, Gonzalez was in a store quarreling with and threatening two other Mexicans with a knife ^[1]. McEnterf walked in and, seeing the handle of the knife exposed from beneath the Mexican’s coat, asked what he was doing with it, whereupon Gonzalez struck at him with the knife ^[1]. McEnterf thereupon shot him, inflicting a wound in the region of the collar bone ^[1].
