H. D. Gilbert – Silver City Resident Honored at 55th Anniversary
On Wednesday evening, January 23, 1889, Gilbert’s friends in Silver City gave him a surprise party for his 55th anniversary [1]. His wife and children presented him with an elegant gold-headed ebony cane [1]. In August 1890, Gilbert, then living at the Alamo Hueco ranch, assisted at the burial of victims from an Apache raid near Lordsburg [2].
