H. E. Muse: Silver City Lawman
In 1889, as a marshal, Muse swore out a complaint against Millie Forest for using profane language [3]. Petrie employed Muse in 1890 to take charge of his outfit while Petrie traveled to Socorro for a warrant [2]. That same year, Muse arrested Mike O’Brien, a dangerous horse thief, at Fred Newman’s ranch near Black Canyon—compelling surrender at gunpoint—in a capture considered one of the most important of the year for local stockmen [4][5].
