J. H. Mudge: Brakeman Injured in 1891 Santa Fe Wreck Near El Paso
Conductor Starr was killed instantly [2]. Mudge received several severe scalp wounds, his left hand split open, and his right leg badly cut [2]. He and Engineer McGinnis were taken to a hospital in El Paso [1][3]. Mudge was expected to be moved to San Marcial as soon as his condition permitted [1][3]. He was known to most business men in Silver City, having acted as an agent there during January of that year [1][4][3].
