J. W. Fleming – Silver City Mayor and Rancher
Card's hardware store, where about $150 worth of cutlery and several watches were stolen [2]. He and Card searched a suspect in Chinatown and recovered twelve or fourteen watches from Charley Wing, who blamed an accomplice named Au Sin—possibly a fictitious person [2]. Around that time, a John W. (Jack) Fleming reportedly won the “White House” ranch at Mule Springs (Duck Creek) in a horse race, kept it about three years, then sold it to the L-C Cattle Co. [1].
