Martin Flynn, road master killed in train accident near Anthony, N.M.

Martin Flynn, a road master recently promoted to that position, was killed near Anthony, N.M., on Wednesday morning, May 27, 1891 [1][2]. He was in charge of a work train distributing ballast where recent high water had washed out the track [1][2]. While riding on a car of rock, a sudden stoppage of the train caused him to fall between the cars; he was run over and horribly mangled, his skull crushed and his left arm and right leg severed from his body [1][2]. Death was instantaneous [1][2].
