Miguel is a Cocopah Indian who witnessed a severe earthquake and tidal wave along the Colorado River and provided an account of the disaster [1][2]. In an interview, Miguel and Shampore described how the terror of the place drove the Indians to break out "in a hoarse cry of distress and ran like the wild wind up the river bank toward Hanlon's" [2]. Many succumbed, but Miguel and Shampore eventually made their way to Yuma, and the above is the account of their experience [2][1].
