Perfecto Rodriguez, Grant County Constable
In 1890, while making an arrest, Rodriguez was assaulted; the belligerent got the officer's front finger on his right hand in his mouth, biting it to the bone [1]. Rodriguez then drew his revolver and knocked his opponent down [1]. A contemporary newspaper stated he was entirely justified and still had a very sore finger after the incident [1].
