Petronilo Jaramillo, charged with adultery, marries co-defendant in court
In district court, when the jury was ready to try Petronilo Jaramillo on the charge of adultery, he and Teresa Lopez announced they had decided to marry legally.[1] The presiding judge performed the ceremony.[1] They then pleaded guilty to the charge and were sentenced to six months in the territorial penitentiary, with the sentence suspended on good behavior.[1]
