What might we gain once we establish a foothold on the Moon? This collection approaches that question through 60 articles in twelve parts. It examines the businesses, discoveries, skills, services, and wider opportunities a functioning lunar base could make possible.

The starting point is a working base in a possible future. The articles ask what changes when researchers, crews, suppliers, and other participants can build on services that already exist. They also ask who would pay, who would benefit, what evidence would count, and where a promising idea could fail to become a useful activity.

Twelve parts, sixty questions

The opening parts move from the base itself to the businesses around it: electricity, communications, deliveries, rentals, repairs, and recycling. Resource and manufacturing articles then examine water, propellant, oxygen, building materials, production, and trade. These chapters distinguish a useful resource or a technical possibility from a business with paying customers.

The middle of the series considers science and possible benefits on Earth. Research, water systems, power, robotics, repairable products, health, food, jobs, skills, culture, and participation each receive their own chapters. The discussion keeps public value and commercial income visible as different things that can require different tests.

The closing parts look outward to activities elsewhere in the solar system and back toward the people who bear costs and receive benefits. They consider measurement, access, environmental choices, ownership, alternative futures, and a scorecard for the gains a project promises.
