Engineer McGinnis, bleeding, stunned and
blinded by blood and injuries, showed great
presence of mind by running back nearly half
a mile and flagging the east-bound passenger
train which was only five minutes behind them.
The wreck occurred just around a sharp curve
and the passenger train would have crashed into
it. All trains were delayed about six hours.
