Harry Wolburn, Cornish Miner, Fined for Centennial Fight
On Monday night, March 4, 1889, Wolburn whipped three or four men at the Centennial [1][2]. He was brought before Judge Lucas on Tuesday and fined $10 and trimmings [1][2]. Wolburn refused to pay and asked for a transcript of the proceedings to send to England to check their regularity [1][2]. When officers started to take him to jail, he produced a $20 gold piece, settled the fine, and was told to "go and sin no more" [1][2].
